Keeping Traditions

An important area of the Company’s social investments is support for the traditional way of life of indigenous people of the North as well as assistance for their integration into the modern economic and social landscape.

The Company supports activities that promote the preservation of the national identity of indigenous people of the North, the establishment of cultural ties between different communities and families and raising public awareness for matters involving the preservation of traditional crafts and trades.

In 2014, Gazprom Neft provided financial support to organise celebrations of Reindeer Herder Day in the villages of Khalyasavey, Tolka and Khanymey (Yamalo-Nenets Autonomous District), the village of Russkinskaya (Khanty-Mansi Autonomous District-Yugra) and the cities of Nadym and Muravlenko.

Gazprom Neft also provided targeted support to 196 families (977 people) from among indigenous people of the North in the Yamalo-Nenets Autonomous District and Khanty-Mansi Autonomous District-Yugra, allocated funds to purchase equipment, fishing gear as well as fuel and lubricants for communities, provided families with utilities, chainsaws and snowmobiles and provided aid for the acquisition of construction materials, uniforms and food.
